ZooidColony
/ˈzoʊ.ɔɪd/ · ZOH-oyd · noun — one specialized member of a colony; it only works as part of the whole.
A Zooid is a small, specialized worker that runs on your own computer — drafting, researching, or keeping watch on a task, on your own local models, with nothing metered per run. Zooids live in a Colony: a shared sandbox on your machine where each one keeps its own specialty and picks up where another left off. Keep your Colony Local, share a Zooid with the people you choose, and — soon — connect to the Public Colony.
Local-first, by design. A Zooid does its thinking on your own machine — nothing about your work leaves it by default. When one hits a problem it genuinely can't solve or check on its own, it can ask a more capable outside model for help — but only with that one narrow, stripped-down question, never your task, data, or purpose, and only up to a spending cap you set. Off until you turn it on: the way to get top-tier reasoning on the hard parts without handing your work over to someone else's model.
Under the microscope: Zooids activating one another inside a Colony. Local and Shared today; the Public Colony is in development.

Multimodal: text, images, audio, and video frames
Delivered as a Context Crystal — a hosted knowledge handle
A private knowledge handle — yours to build or subscribe to.
Subscribe to a vertical — PDC maintains the regulated-industry library, benchmarked against current standards. Query immediately, no setup required.
Compress your own sources — text, documents, images, audio recordings, or video frames. Any source material you own or are authorized to process. Your Crystal is encrypted at rest and in transit, accessible only to the API key that created it, and the compressed state is never returned or downloadable. Delete at any time, at no charge.
You can also use your ChatGPT or Claude conversation archive — export the ZIP, upload it, and your own research and decisions become a private, queryable Crystal. Step-by-step guide →
